Four people have been taken to hospital after gunmen opened fire from a vehicle outside a licensed venue hosting an amateur boxing tournament in Loganholme, south of Brisbane, on Saturday evening.
Queensland Police were called to the scene at approximately 8.15pm following reports of multiple shots directed at patrons standing outside the commercial premises.
Gunfire erupts outside licensed venue
The sudden barrage of gunfire prompted immediate panic among spectators and participants attending the boxing card inside the complex. Witnesses described hearing several loud discharges before a vehicle was seen accelerating rapidly away from the suburban precinct.
As reported by The Guardian Australia, the offenders fled the scene immediately after the discharge and remain at large, sparking an intensive overnight police operation across the southern suburbs of Brisbane.
Uniformed officers quickly established a wide exclusion zone around the property, securing ballistic evidence, cataloguing spent casings, and interviewing patrons who spilled onto the street in the immediate aftermath of the shooting.
Paramedics rush four casualties to hospital
Queensland Ambulance Service deployed multiple critical care crews and tactical medical units to Loganholme following high-priority triple-zero emergency calls.
First responders treated four casualties on site before transporting them under police escort to major metropolitan hospitals across south-east Queensland. Paramedics assessed the victims for gunshot wounds and secondary trauma sustained during the chaos.
While authorities have not formally released the specific medical prognoses or ages of the four injured individuals, emergency services confirmed that all required urgent hospitalisation. The incident triggered code-red alerts across receiving regional emergency departments.
Detectives launch regional manhunt
Specialist investigators from the Logan District Criminal Investigation Branch, supported by the State Crime Command, have taken carriage of the inquiry as detectives work to determine whether the shooting was targeted or linked to organised criminal syndicates.
Forensic officers spent the night scouring the tarmac, vehicle bays, and adjoining road corridors for shell casings, tyre marks, and discarded physical evidence. Police are also reviewing high-definition closed-circuit television footage recovered from nearby commercial premises and arterial routes connecting to the Pacific Motorway.
Investigators have urged anyone who was driving through Loganholme around 8.15pm, particularly motorists equipped with dashcam recording devices, to come forward. Residents with security cameras facing local thoroughfares have also been asked to preserve recordings that could assist in identifying the getaway vehicle.
Community shaken by brazen public violence
The reckless shooting outside a populated sporting event has intensified concern over public firearm violence within Queensland's suburban commercial hubs.
Authorities emphasised that incidents involving active discharge of firearms outside crowded venues present severe risks to innocent bystanders. Police patrols throughout the Logan district have been increased as uniform and plain-clothes officers continue active inquiries to track down the vehicle and its occupants.
No arrests have been made, and detectives are pursuing several lines of inquiry to establish the precise motive behind the attack.
