Queensland detectives have launched an intensive manhunt for multiple masked offenders after a daylight drive-by shooting in Logan left a 19-year-old woman fighting for her life and three others hospitalised.

Emergency services were called to a suburban residential address south of Brisbane on Saturday afternoon following reports of rapid gunfire directed at a property. Paramedics treated four people at the scene, with the teenage victim sustaining catastrophic injuries to her head and neck before being rushed under police escort to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Medical staff confirmed on Sunday that the young woman remains in an induced coma in an intensive care unit, where her condition is listed as critical.

Teenager critical after targeted suburban ambush

According to details reported by ABC News Australia, the shooting unfolded when a vehicle carrying several masked occupants pulled up outside the residence and opened fire into the yard and front entrance.

Three men who were also present at the address sustained secondary gunshot and shrapnel wounds during the barrage. Queensland Ambulance Service officers treated the men at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries before transporting them to local hospitals in stable conditions.

Specialist ballistic examiners and scientific officers cordoned off the street throughout Saturday evening and into Sunday, recovering several spent shell casings and scouring neighbouring properties for projectile impacts. Initial assessments suggest multiple rounds were discharged from high-powered firearms in a matter of seconds.

Masked assailants flee scene in getaway car

Police are focusing their inquiries on tracking the movements of the vehicle used in the assault, which was seen speeding away from the scene immediately after the discharge of weapons. ABC News Australia reported that detectives are reviewing extensive closed-circuit television and dashcam footage collected from nearby arterial roads to identify the make and registration of the car.

Investigators suspect the perpetrators wore balaclavas or face coverings to conceal their identities, pointing to a calculated and pre-planned operation. While detectives believe the address was specifically targeted, they have not yet established whether all four victims were intentional targets or caught in the line of fire.

Officers have maintained a heavy guard around the crime scene and have conducted door-to-door inquiries across the surrounding neighbourhood to speak with residents who heard the gunfire or witnessed suspicious vehicles in the area leading up to the attack.

Broader inquiry into illicit regional disputes

Detectives from the Logan Criminal Investigation Branch, bolstered by the State Crime Command, are examining potential links between the drive-by shooting and broader illicit disputes across south-east Queensland.

Authorities have repeatedly raised concerns over the proliferation of illicit firearms and retaliatory violence among suburban criminal networks. While police have sought to reassure the local community that there is no ongoing, random threat to the general public, the brazen nature of a shooting in a residential area has prompted sharp community unease.

Queensland Police have urged members of the public who may have captured dashcam or security camera footage within the Logan area around the time of the incident, or who possess information regarding the masked offenders, to contact Crime Stoppers immediately.
