A south-east Queensland council claims to have set a new world record for the largest trombone ensemble, after hundreds of musicians gathered at the weekend to play the Broadway classic Seventy-Six Trombones. The Ipswich mayor, Teresa Harding, says there were more than 600 trombonists, beating the previous world record of 368 musicians set in Washington DC in 2012.
