Australian researchers have unearthed a new species of seahorse, a discovery that challenges our understanding of marine biodiversity and highlights the vast, unexplored regions of our oceans. This ghostly creature, never observed alive, was identified through genetic analysis of specimens collected over two decades ago, now housed in museum collections across Australia.
Unveiling a Cryptic New Species

This genetic divergence confirmed they were, in fact, a separate, previously unrecognised species.
